Kaolin Edible Clay is historically known for its highly absorptive properties and its ability to draw out and bind heavy metals, drugs and other toxins from the body. Kaolin Clay has been used for thousands of years as both an internal and external purification aid.
GeologicallyKaolin Clay is a mineral, made from rich volcanic ash that was deposited in sea water approximately 60 million years ago. It is a swelling-type sodium bentonite containing the lowest number of minerals that comprise it — only 17 minerals. This low mineral count is what gives this bentonite the highest absorptive properties.
The Best Kaolin Clay occurs in the Big Horn Basin, in the Powder River basin, and along the western edge of the Black Hills, of Wyoming. This type of Kaolin Clay is capable of absorbing 7 to 10 times its own weight in water, and swelling up to 18 times its dry volume.
Because of this unique absorptive characteristic, Wyoming Kaolin Clay is the standard against which all other clay in the world is measured. And that's why it's the only clay we carry.
